I was about to kick a puppy for a minute... The OTA came through about an hour ago, and asked if I wanted to DL the update. I told it to remind me later and the next thing I know, a minute ago I hear the VZW goodbye jingle and my phone..is rebooting to the update screen.

I was all MOTHER FUUUUUUUUUUUU for a minute, until it said "Update Failed" and didn't touch my nonobits (aka, my phone) after all.

But warning to others...Turn your phone off or something or risk getting forced to OTA without consent.

Pissed me offffff.

I thought you had to select apply update?
Apparently not. *twitch*

The first time, it gave me 2 minutes to notice the popup warning before it would auto-install; I managed to see it in time to choose 'remind me later' and then I guess, when it "reminded me later" (a whole hour later, whoopee doo), I didn't notice until it reboot to install.

it didnt send you into cwm reboot? The ota didnt prompt me, it juts started downloading on its own....twice!! I cut the data signal to stop it, and it hasnt prompted me or tried to download since then. Im not running the zip to block it either.

That's what happened to me also. Came back from break at work and the phone was updating. The guy who works next to me heard me drop a few 4 letter bombs and was like what happened? lol

I don't have cwm installed.supposedly, since i'm just rooted and on stock, it should've taken the ota without failing. glad it did fail though! Killing wifi and data was what I did too, was the only way to leave my phone on and unmanned on the charger all night.

I'm picturing a slow motion "Noooooooooo!"scene in my head.

Had the same issue with v4 put me into a boot loop, with no boot loop fix. And it was before broken out was available, or right after it came available, but I did not have it.

why don't you want the update beck? If you are on stock then why not go ahead and get the update.

There's been some conflicting info whether or not having cwm installed will narse up your shot if you try to take the ota. Nephi says yes, others report no issue taking it. I'd be hesitant too with cwm installed.

So, has anyone else tried the V6 nandroid from Neph81?

This shows Software version VS920ZV3.
I could have sworn that BrokenOut shows VS920ZV4.

Either way, this ROM runs at a cooler temp then the other ROMs I have tried.
64mb free suks tho. The work of the devs's will be a welcome treat.

And how about that news regarding the global radio unlock?
I may activate this device yet.

64mb free? You've got way too much stuff running.

This is after 12hours use and no app killing:

Not talking RAM here, I meant storage is left with 64mb.
BTW when you ran V6, did you remember what the version number said?

I don't have CWM installed, which is, funnily enough, one of the reasons I'm lazy about taking the update; I have no nandroid backup, just Titanium for apps and data. I'm also unclear of what happens if you take the v6 OTA and root and try to load a v4 nandroid; won't that just get you right back to v4?

Only one way to find out...lol

If you take the V6 update and then restore the V4 nandroid, you will be back at V4 again. That is the whole point of a nandroid.

whats weird is I had flashed back to v4 and took the v6 update though the OTA. Then I decided I would rather have eclipse so flashed back to stock v4 then back to eclipse, which is what I'm on now. Now when I go to about phone in the settings it says I'm on zv6.

Like I had mentioned in a thread the other day I returned back to v4 again and tried to take the update and it says I'm already up to date. And it remembers my update I did may 14th to v6. What do you make of all this neph.

OOOOOOh. I thought you were saying there was only 64mb RAM left. lol Honestly, I didn't check the version number. I have the nand on my SD card though. If needed, i can check and report back.

What app is that mrb?
SystemPanel Lite: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.systempanel

I've been using it since it was beta about 4 years ago; anything NextApp makes is killer and FX (linked on the app page) is my default file broswer. Oddly enough, this is one of those apps that is better as a free version, than paid.

I don't have an answer for that one. I know when I took the V6 update and then restored a V4 nandroid, I am back on V4 per the system info. I'm starting to wonder if there is not a flag/file some where that is occasionally being missed by nandroid.

Hey guys quick question... If you had stock then went to v6 through the ota but never rooted before and didnt save the root could you still use one click root method or dans to root the spectrum

The v6 update can be rooted using the All In One package. It doesn't matter if you've rooted before or not.
