Help Moto Assist

I am looking to buy a Droid Maxx, and I keep reading review and they all say something about Moto Assist detecting that you are driving and it will read text aloud and tell you who is calling. Does anyone know if this can be turned off?

It also prompts to read the text, doesn't just blurt it out. To bad it only offers a canned "I'm driving but will get back to you" reply, but it's easy enough to Ok Google Now a quick customized reply.

Not only can it be turned off, this feature of assist is turned off by default until you activate it.
