Help Moto G (2014) not supporting MIDI ringtones

My deceased Galaxy S3, JellyBean 4.3 update, used to support MIDI ringtones. My current Moto G (2nd generation), Marshmallow 6.0 update, won't recognize MIDI files in the Ringtones folder. Is it me or is it no longer supported by Android and/or not supported by Motorola?
