Moto G and Mac

Any advice for those of us with macs as to what software is best to transfer data/ backup our phones etc. on our computers?

Plugging the USB cable into the Mac doesn't get recognize? If not, maybe there are some drivers for it. You can always use the cloud to transfer files.

I have a macbook Air - & have used Airdroid from the play store to transfer files between the Mac & all my previous Android devices, been using this off & on now for about 3 years.

I would recommend the free lite version if you only use occasionally, or the paid version for a heavy user.

I'm surprised the Mac is not picking it up with only the USB cable. Linux does without anything special. But at work, using Win 7, I had to install the drivers.

Ubuntu didn't do it before 13.04, you needed to use Mint before that, and before that, you had to install the pieces by hand.

MTP, media transport protocol, is the problem, it's a Microsoft protocol, and forced on everyone with Android for a while now.

So, as mentioned above - Android File Transfer, Airdroid, iSyncr, an ftp server on the G (several free in the Play Store), or use Dropbox or Google Drive to sync files.

Ok, I didn't know that. Even though I have an '05 Mini Mac, I have all the USB plugs taken for other accessories that I haven't tried my phone.

Mageia 3 picks it up without issues.

Thnx.
