Help Moto G as intercom node?

I am trying to set up an intercom using either bluetooth or WiFi. My problem here is that my Moto G will only output a very low level of audio when using either BT or WiFi to connect to other devices. I had very little luck with bluetooth, and finally managed to get reliable connection using Wifi, if I made one phone a hotspot.

However, while the Moto G plays music fine and works perfectly as a phone, with and without a headset, when using WiFi, it is so quiet as to be useless. All other devices are fine. The Moto G will transmit fine. I have tried receiving on the Moto G from two differrent android tablets, both of which work perfectky when sending and receiving to each other, so the transmission side of things seems fine.

Has anyone used the Moto G as an intercom node/receiver with good sound levels?

Thanks for any help.

EDIT: Here is a thing of interest. I have found that with the Moto G and only the Moto G of all the devices I have, altering ghe volume controls makes no difference to the volume of Bluetooth or WiFi voice contact. This seems to be the main problem.

How are you adjusting the volume?

I don't have your phone. On there Motorola phones it is in Settings | Sound. Is Media set at maximum?

What app are you using for this? Have you tried running in Safe Mode disabling all apps you installed witout uninstalling them? If it stops it is caused by an app that you added.

Thanks for tge reply.

I have tried all the ways I know...hardware, settings etc. Media is set at Max. Setting different values in any way makes no difference to the sound level when I want Bluetooth or WiFi sounds. The app is called "Intercom for Android" by Yerrampe. I doo not know how to run in safe mode and surely I can't test an app that is not runable because they are disabled by safe mode?

Safe Mode would not help here because the app in question would also be disabled.

(To enter Safe Mode start a power off, when you get the dialog box to power off ... long press on the power odd option.)

I suggest you contact the app developer and see what they can do for you.

Thanks for the patience.

I did contact the dev, but he said he was aware of the problem, but was not sure what was happening, He is re-writing using a new API that he hopes will overcome the oncompatibility. I was hoping that maybe soebody would ID the source of the problem.

Hi Thom

The Moto G is on 4.4.4, my tablet Galaxy II is on 4.2.2, y wife's tablet (Galaxy Note 8) is on 4.1.2.

I will say that apart from this one volume problem on the Moto G, the intercom app is amazing. I had trouble using bluetooth, but I am not sure how much of that is bluetooth, with which I have always had an uneasy relationship. The app also lets you use WiFi and once I tried that, it is just a matter of installing the app on each machine, logging in to a common WiFi point (which can be any device's hotspot) and opening the app on each device...then start talking. It is literally that easy. The others I found needed logging in and I figured they were Web based. This is standalone. This is for cruising on a Trike, so internet could be flaky.
