Help Moto G no longer able to send or receive SMS messages (solved)

My roommate's Moto G just stopped sending and receiving SMS messages a few days ago. I already tried clearing the messenger app data and cache, booting into recovery mode and clearing the system cache, and force stopping all the third party apps she has. She only has about a dozen so it didn't take long but the problem still persists. When I send her a picture message, delivery confirmation says she received it although she didn't. She's on Verizon prepaid.

At this point the only thing I can think of is a factory reset, and I have a feeling Verizon tech support will say the say the same thing. Any ideas?

What is recovery mode and how do you enter it? Try updating the PRL and Profile if it's on th e Verizon version.

How would I go about that? Recovery mode is a little tricky. I have it bookmarked at home but if I remember correctly, with the phone off, you hold down the volume down button for 3 seconds then press and release the power button. Then when the menu appears, press volume down and select recovery. Now it will have the Android laying on its back and say enter command. Then you press and hold volume up for15 seconds and press and release the power button. Finally you use volumes down to select clear cache and power to select it.

Not very user friendly lol.

I figured it out and it was so simple. Somehow her mobile data got turned off lol.
