Moto X & Netflix

I just ordered the Moto X a few days ago, white front, orange back, purple volume rocker and camera outline, :) and they were running a promotion for a free Chromecast, so I got 1 but haven't tried it out yet, can you do it with a smart tv or do you HAVE to do it with Chromecast only?

If your smart tv supports Miracast, that should work as well... but very few TV's do, but I think you will find the ChromeCast to be by far the better user experience.

curious why you say that. i have miracast, chromecast, and roku. as far as reliability, functionality, and ease of use, i put roku number one, by a wide margin, then miracast, then chromecast.

not a fan, i guess.

btw, op, a roku can be had for just a smidge more than the chromecast, and you can watch your netflix even when you lose your phone.:D

curious why you say that
Because you can hand off control from one device to another while playing... i.e. start watching in living room from phone, go to the kitchen for a snack (where a tablet lives), and able to pause from the tablet when I come to the conclusion my snack is gonna take a while... or pick up watching on the tablet until I get back to the living room.

And with multiple Chromecasts, I can start to watch something downstairs, and then go upstairs and easily pick up where I left off, even using a different device.

While this all seems a little esoteric, it works very well. I have whole house control on all my devices via iRule, and it is neat that I can shift the content around as well using the chromecast. There is one thing ChromeCast won't do at this point that my Google TV does, and that is to stream content from my server over ftp. If it could do that I'd have one less box. :D

Chromecast is neat, but the only TV I can and want to use it on in our house is in the weakest area for our wifi router. Can't even play a song without buffering.

Our TV is already a smart TV and I can stream media via home plug and our external drive. But I wanted the Chromecast to add Google services (Play Music, Movies, etc)
