Moto X UK

With the possibility of the Moto X coming to the UK, who would swap their N5 for one?

Also, has anyone already made the swap, and what are your thoughts?

What's the price? Unless there's an sd slot, I'll stay put even though the wife's Moto G is pretty well built
 
I like the Moto X a lot but wouldn't bother trading the N5 for one.

I don't think the extra features on the X are worth it and there are some arguable trade offs - screen resolution, raw power for gaming (in future maybe).

Plus the N5 is still the best device in my eyes.
 
Not sure what the price will be. The main temptation for me is the size, I think it would feel better in my hand.

I'm with you on this one. Size + battery life is making a persuasive argument for me. Resale values for my N5 (+assorted QI chargers, cases etc) look good too.
I'll be looking at the pricing with interest and waiting to see whether the touchless control works properly with the language set to UK English.

Now Google have sold off Moto I'm not so sure about getting one now...

How does it compare to the N5 now you've had both?

So far I'm happy - the Lenovo thing hasn't worried me as I could live with the X as it is now. Plus I tend to change phones regularly (or as my girlfriend says "far too often" :-)).

Got it Friday lunchtime (I paid a premium to get a white one - fancied a change) and set it up that evening.

Running the two phones side by side whilst configuring the X I couldn't see any real world performance difference. I use my devices encrypted, stock and unrooted.

The smaller size is a bit of an adjustment (I had an N4 before the N5 and the X is smaller than both) but after a couple of days it feels right and I can use it one handed without feeling like I might drop it. I'm due to start commuting by train next month and dropping my N5 was a major concern.

Software wise I'm quite impressed. Moto Assist has learnt to trigger driving mode from my car kit automatically but meeting mode is useless until I can configure it / it learns which calendar represents work. I've started to trim and reconfigure my Tasker setup now I'm confident that Assist will be useful. Trusted devices is fantastic and I hope they expand it to networks for WiFi.
Touchless control is brilliant - I was sending texts whilst sat in the bath last night without risking a watery grave for the X.
I could do without the extra calendar app (I've disabled it) and I keep trying to swipe left for Google Now but I'm sure that will pass.

TLDR: I like it and am putting the N5 on eBay today.
 
Cool sounds good. Maybe I'll see what the pricing does in the next few weeks.

I know what you mean about one handed operation, to me its the most annoying thing about the N5, but whether that is enough to swap.....I dunno.....
 
My Nexus 5 has a screen lock (PIN) when I am not connected to my home WiFi and no screen lock when I am connected. I use tasker and an app called secure settings to do this. Isn't this trusted networks?
 
No contest for me personally. I would definitely keep the Nexus 5, both for having used it now and liking it, as well as for the reasons I chose it over the Moto X in the first place.

And likewise for my preferences, the Nexus 5 is in the "sweet spot" size wise, not too big, not too small, just right, and I have medium sized hands.

It's up to you which device you want, of course.

Pretty much. Having been a Tasker user since it was released I have faith in its abilities. However the Trusted Devices approach is smoother and easier than anything I've done with Tasker and Secure Settings.
