Moto X vs. Nexus 5 when rooting

I am looking at purchasing either a Moto X or Nexus 5. Having the ability to root is important to me. I believe that I've read that the Nexus 5 is easier to root but I really like to Moto X. Would you suggest steering away from the Moto X if rooting is important? How would you compare the rooting difficulty between the two?

Thanks.

What carrier are you on mate? Im not sure but i think that makes a difference if its a carrier version of the phone (especially verizon)
Non carrier nexus' are very simple to root and id guess/hope the moto is the same.
I certainly chat to a lot of people with rooted moto x

With the Moto X I would buy the phone outright, directly through Motorola. I would get the developer edition with the unlockable bootloader. Of course, the decision then is whether to get the CDMA version or the GSM version of the phone. The Moto X is going to be $100 off for a short while tomorrow so I need to make my decision fairly quickly. My wife has the Moto X and loves it but I'm sure that I'd be happy with the Nexus 5 also. The ability to get the Moto X's attention by just saying, "Ok, Google now" . . . without pushing any buttons is amazingly convenient and not a gimmick at all.

Lol for me it would be a useless gimmick (very strong regional accent) :D
I saw a pic of the X with the Ebony wood back earlier and its so sexy :)
