Help Motorola Backflip e-mail help

ive been googleing this like crazy. Got a motorola backflip WITHOUT motoblur. Trying to set up the built in e-mail. All it asks is the pop3 and port number / username and password and security type. default port is 110 it just keeps giving error message unable to connect to server.

Tried all the settings that we have seen. funny thing is all the advise online asks you to enter alot more settings that what the phone is asking. it asks for the exact same info on manual or auto setup ????

Depends on what pop3 you are trying to access.
I've seen different ISPs use different ports.
It asks for the same info, or should.

Road Runner in California
Username XXXX
Password XXXX
Incoming Server pop.ca.rr.com
Outgoing Server smtp.ca.rr.com

Usually the default ports will work.
