im loving this phone! but i can not go verizon CDMA.

can this phone be used unlocked with just the sim (no CDMA) on another carrier?

if it's like other "world phones" that verizon sells. They will gladly unlock the sim card for existing subs who just ask. You just call them and say "I'm traveling and would prefer to use prepaid sims rather then roam"

Depends on the firmware if it will then work in the US. At one point the samsung saga (a winblows phone)- the firmware would know if you were in the us (not sure if by gps or towers or what) and force you to CDMA and therefore a verizon account. But other versions of the firmware people had no issues with sticking an ATT sim card and there and going to town. BUT anything that was customized for vzw- like the MMS server settings and the like wont work on anything but verizon's network without hacking. So you'd need to fiddle with that too.

Hmm.....

I was wondering a bit if it would be possible to just get one of these and use it in the uk on GSM.... Not sounding so likely now.
