I think even with the locked bootloader it will have a great dev following.
I had read something about the big.little processing thing or whatever works only on 4460.
That would be the only thing, but since there is a variety of processors used that will work with ICS I don't see Google putting anything into android that wouldn't be pretty much universal

Exactly. Talk about alienating a whole crop of devices using Exynos and Qualcomms. "Sorry guys 4.0 doesnt work on those processors"
It will be simply coded and optimized to run on the different platforms and architectures.
So is the razr processor the same that is in the bionic just iverclocked? Because i remember reading somewhere the razr seemed much better in the browser I wasn't sure if it was a special 4430 sort of how the 4460 is?

I don't remember where but I read that the 4430 in the RAZR was not an overclocked version of the 4430 that was in the Bionic but rather a newer tweaked version that runs at 1.2ghz.
The same article also stated that the 4460 in the Nexus is not an underclocked 4460 but a 4460 made to run at 1.2ghz. Supposedly there where some production problems with the 4460s that can run at 1.5ghz.
I also remember someone posting a while back that the 4430 and 4460 were essentially the same chip but the 4460 was just a binned version that runs more efficiently at higher clock speeds. I guess we won't really know til someone breaks that monster open.

That is good to know. Hopefully that means the processor in the razr will be made pretty much just to run in that device and they made it so it doesn't kill the battery like an overclocked processor would.

Nope, it's not overclocked. In laymen's terms it's a better quality chip/wafer that is stable at 1.2GHZ. The 4460 is the same wafer as the 4430 but is stable at 1.5GHZ so they will eventually sell those off as the 4460.

Just ordered this myself.
For me it wasn't much of a choice. Loved the OG droid, picked up a Charge and that pretty much left a sour taste in my mouth when it comes to Samsung lol. So the Prime doesn't interest me at all. Lesson learned is for better or worse, i am sticking with Moto. At least they update their phones.
Here's to hoping the RAZR turns out to be a great phone! Now if it will just hurry up and get here.

^The thing about the Prime is it will get updates the fastest since its a Nexus phone.
But yea...past experiences with Samsung have made me never get too excited about their phones dating back to 2005-2006? about. I'm sure the same can be said for all the Android manufactures too.

While its true that it will get updates fastest that doesnt mean the Razr won't get updates pretty quickly. Motorola has easily been the best with updates in recent history. The other thing here is that Motorola is actually doing some pretty good things with Gingerbead. Motocast, battery management, MotoPrint, built in way to hide bloat, etc. Motorola's Application Platform is getting better and better. Now if they open up that pesky bootloader I would never need to look at another brand ever.

Built in way to hide bloat? I missed that feature. This sounds great, where is this mentioned? Also, after re-watching the Moto announcement I heard Sanjay Jha mention that Smart Actions would allow you to slow down the processor at a user determined time. So would we basically be able to underclock the processor when we see fit without the need of an app like SetCPU?

Yes you can hide the bloatware on the Razr. Its not as good as being able to uninstall it but at least I won't have to look at it in the app drawer.

Smart Actions is an awesome app. I'm digging MotoCast as well. There has been many times I've needed something off my PC so this will be a huge plus for me.
My phone is used for business mostly so I'm pretty stoked to have all these options at my fingertips.
I haven't been this excited about hardware since the Droid was announced. Hopefully I will be one of the lucky ones and get mine a little early. Would be nice.

I really like the look off this phone from the front. I could not care less how thin it is though. The screen looks great and the build quality looks first rate. However the elephant in the room is that this is an LTE device with no chance to upgrade the battery. I've finally decided that I will give it a good look but I have my doubts.

Also, while there are other apps on the market that can give you the same functions as Smart Actions and Motocast, the fact that these apps are made specifically to run on the RAZR makes me feel like they will perform much better and with less bugs than a third party application. Props to Moto on these two extremely useful apps.

The way I see it is, you have 14 days to really get a feel for it. With the changes that were made to the UI as well as the build quality you could get a good idea if you like it within that time. If anything, keep your old phone while you feel out the RAZR and if you don't like it, switch back, and wait for another one to come out.
I personally like to test out the phone myself, as when you base your decisions off of others, you never know if they are using the phone the same way you would. You may be a light user, while others are power users. There could be major differences in opinions there.

I use my smartphone mostly for business as well. That's what makes deciding if I will purchase this very very hard. I really don't want to support Motorola due to their locked bootloader policy but their hardware is second to none. Motorola just has better radios and build quality by far. I may just have to bite the bullet and purchase the Razr for work and buy the Rezound for play. To bad the new Nexus is a Samsung product. Here is to hoping the next Nexus device is made by Motorola.

It's strange that there is no love for the RAZR at Verizon right now. Droid-life has pictures showing the HTC Rezound on there promotional posters.

I'm guessing that Verizon is going to launch the RAZR with a major tv advertisement campaign. They'll give the Rezound all the love for now. By the second week in November, it will be all about the RAZR and the Galaxy Nexus.

Adding more news to the wire, Android Central does say that the RAZR will be coming to Rodgers on the 4th. What do you all think? Any more reason to feel we will see this device early and the ship date is Verizon's way of saying they will have all orders fulfilled BY the 10th? meaning devices will/may be shiped before then?

Yup I think we will see some Verizon unboxings over the weekend of the 4th. No later than the 7th. It sort of never fails, somebody somewhere gets theirs before anyone else lol
