I got one at a local BestBuy yesterday, and I think I may have snaked one out before it was intended to go on sale to the G.P.
I had a 1st gen Moto G that fell and broke it's screen, so I bought an LG Volt to replace it. Wanted SD, 4G, and the Volt seemed a viable candidate. After a few days and some issues with it, I figured the unit was defective. So I returned to replace it. The sales rep didn't have any more Volts out on the floor, so off to the drawer he goes. Pokes his head out and said "Nope, we're out at the moment; but we have this.." and hands me the box. I had already dismissed the E, as I figured that the Volt was replacing the G that I had, so why would I downgrade. But my interest perked up when I saw the 4G logo in the corner of the box. Long story short, I snatched it up, for 99.99 no less! Only 20 bucks more than the Volt I returned. I haven't seen it for sale ANYWHERE as of this typing; and even Motorola's site is taking pre-orders ONLY.


It's essentially a 1st gen G, minus the camera flash, add 4G and a sim slot for up to 32gb, larger battery (2390mA), same DPI.

I'm really looking forward to working with this phone; probably as much as I was with my 1st gen G!

Edit: I am mistaken about the DPI, it indeed is NOT the same

Bought one at best buy to play with simply because it was on sale for $59 I didn't need it but I really like moto's entry devices. You really can't brick a moto G and I assume the same can be said for the E. It's a neat little phone and I'm looking forward to flashing everything and anything that gets thrown at it.
 
I have the XT1527 model from Cricket! This is a great little phone and the 4g and LTE connection on AT&T is good. Coming from a Galaxy Avant, feels good to have lollipop already. I paid $79.00 cash a month ago and a extra $10 for the case. Beats $200+ for a phone to just call, text and play games on. Overall a good phone just not me. Looking to move to the XTE Grand X Max Plus. Also a 1.2ghz quad c processor with 2gb ram, 16gb of memory and a 13mp f/5mp r camera. 6" screen that's also 720p but not $500.
 
Bought mine a couple of days ago. Great little phone. I'm glad to be using Lollipop. I've also read 5.1 is currently rolling out to Moto E users.

I'm still waiting for cricket to release the update. AT&T is already releasing it to some in the USA.
 
We got our 5.1 update last week on Boost Mobile...

I recently purchased a Moto E 2015 from Boost. I would like to update OTA to Lollipop 5.1 but it keeps saying that I must have WiFi to do that. I don't have WiFi where I live but I do have unlimited data. Is there a way to get around the WiFi issue? I hope someone can help with this. Thanks.

Yes. Moto E 2015 - all things Root section. Root & flash a recovery, then you can install 5.1.1 at will

That section also has Root process for your device. SuperR is the Dev on that ROM & device currently, can probably walk you thru whatever to get what you'd need.

Here's a cpl links to get you in the right direction. Now if you WANT, you can also install a Rootless ROM (unmodified) to be completely stock again but I highly doubt you'll get anymore OTA's and you may greatly enjoy Root.
