Help Motorola Service Account Needed? Back up question.

I'm getting the message " System Update Not Available Without a Motorola Service Account" when I try to do a system update. My phone is NOT rooted and I'm the only owner.

Reading the forums indicates I have to do a FDR which is fine. Soft reset didn't work BTW. What I need to understand is the back up process. I am syncing to the google server but I'm not sure where my data is really going?

I don't see it in my Gmail account?

So what's the best way for me to back up my phonebook contacts, ringtones and pictures?

I'm quite confused

Well to answer my own question, I figured out how to sync everything to Google, did the hard reset and the problem is fixed. I mounted the device and copied over my pics and ringtones/notifications and it's all fine now.

FWIW this is one area where Apple has things down pat. You sync to Apple, that's it. It works and works well. With Android you have all kinds of choices to make and some are better than others and there is no clear cut method.

Anyway the phone is clean now.
