Motorola shell holster with kickstand

Anyone tried the Motorola shell holster with kickstand on the Droid 3 yet?

I'm not too keen on the idea of a case that mounts by having little tabs that go in the space between the keyboard and the screen. On my old OG Droig 1 those type of cases generally caused more damage than they mitigated and made the keyboard harder to deploy. But I like the protection the design offers and the kickstand.

Thanks.

I had the exact one, but for my LG Ally, which also has a slideout keyboard. The tabs do go between the keyboard, and they broke about 8 months after I got them. Then again, I took it out of its case every night so I could fit in the dock. If you leave it in the case, it should be fine, it doesn't create enough space between the screen and keyboard to hurt the phone.

Assuming it's about the same as the Ally case, that is.

I think all cases are going to mount with the tabs between the screen and keyboard just because the way the phone is designed.

I had this case on for about a day before I had to take it off (and its a pain to get off). I love the feel of the case, it has a nice texture to it. But on the one I got one of those tabs that was holding the front screen cover on was rubbing when I would slide the phone open and closed. It made the sliding very hard and even scratched the phone (very minor). Other people have reported that their case did not rub at all however. Also, for me it added too much thickness to the phone. I think the backpiece had to be a little thicker to make room for the kickstand.

Just my .02

Why did you have to remove it?

Yes, they're designed poorly, at least with regard to attaching a case. When will manufacturers realize that devices with slide out keyboards need recessed spaces on each half, where cases can properly attach without (potentially) interfering with the slider mechanism?

Amen, I can understand it happening on the OG Droid 1, but it's inexcusable at this point. It would have been a small task to incorporate those notches and then the cases would fit very nicely.

Wow, just picked up a D3 and the case in question.
Definitely worse than the case for my Ally.

This thing... it squeaks. What in the world.
