Here's a shocker. Well, to me.

Official FRK76 Update For Original Motorola Droid

Wow. They're putting out another update 2 years after launch...

Hmmm....

Of course, it also says minor security patches - does it block root? I wonder...

I'm going to flash my OG DROID to stock and see what happens....

Still though - any other OEMs supporting phones 2 years later? I'm honestly asking, not heckling I don't know, as I've never owned any other OEM's android phone before....

And, yes, I know that this is about the DROIDI already made the post there. I just wanted to open up the discussion here since more than a few of use came to this phone from the DROID....

Interesting...
My OG Droid still runs great! It's been relegated to music player and wifi remote at this point, but it's still solid as a rock. This must not be an abnormal phenomenon if Moto is still pushing out code to the old girl.. :)

Same here. My OG Droid is retired & used as a music bridge & MP3 player.... I will fire it up today to see what the update is.

There weren't many Android phones out before the OG Droid. I think the Sprint Hero had an update about that far along.

And, just to say it, the two plus year old iPhone 3GS just received an iOS update. Well, two in the last month. Apple does this better than anybody.

Perhaps more time should be spent by them pushing an update to fix issues with the Bionic. My original droid is old news. Thats a waste of tiime.

Thanks for the info. Yes, most of us had (or still have) the OG Droid. And it's good to know Moto's tendencies!

Not everyone has moved on from the DROID, an not everyone can afford a brand spanking new $300 phone....

WTH does this have to do with the Bionic?

Yeah, that was my thought earlier - nice support there.

Then I noticed a post in the Moto DROID forums about how this very update broke root.

Now, we have a leaked update that breaks root (and a newer leaked update that supposedly does not) and a released update for the DROID that breaks root.

It's raising all sorts of warning bells in my mind....

It's good to see Motorola is supporting their devices for such a long time. One can only hope they continue the practice.
