move googlemaps to sd card?

I am running 2.2 now, and have App 2 SD that lets me move elligable apps to my sd card.

I understood that the lastest version of google maps supported being installed to sd card? however my maps app seems to be up to date but
is still in the phone memory, I cant move it using the App 2 SD app or by going to settings/applications/manage applications/maps

do I have to stop the app somehow to allow moving it, or can I uninstall it and reinstall the latest version to my sd card from the marketplace?

It's Google earth that got the apps to SD not maps, at least not the last time I checked earlier today.
