Help Move ringtone to internal memory?

Hey, I know there are a few threads on this topic, but I couldn't really figure it out. I have a ringtone on my SD card that doesn't work when my phone is tethered. I suspect this is because the computer is accessing this memory, and the phone can't use files on it at the same time. Is there any way to move the ringtone file to the phone's ringtone directory? I really hope there's a fix other than rooting my phone.

I'm looking to do the same thing. I don't tether, but I have to essentially "re select" my custom ring tune every time I recharge the phone, and I always forget so I always end up hearing the default ring tone anyway.
