Help Move to external SD card

I was under the impression one could not move apps or information to an external SD card in KitKat. Yet, my S5 4.4.2 shows icons that say the app is doing just that without my setting it up that way. Here's a screenshot:

If an app creates a folder on the SD card, then it can write to that folder.

Apps cannot write to folders it did not create.
New rule that came along with KitKat.... supposed to be a security feature, I think it stinks, but who am I to know how I want to use my SD card?

I thought Samsung was one manufacturer that didn't implement the Kitkat restricted SD access in some of their phones. Don't know about the S5 in particular though.

Not true.

Some Samsungs, exact same model, one updated to KitKat, another coming with it pre-installed, don't cope with the permission change the same way. You were probably thinking of that.
