Movie downloaded from Google Play Store disappeared

Hi
I hope someone can advise me. I recently rented and downloaded a movie from the Google Play Store for the first time. I downloaded it to my brand new Toshiba Excite Pro Android Tablet (Android version 4.2.1). I could see that it was there ready for me to watch when I was ready to do so and could also see that it said

in the play movie app you should have you need to pin the movie if you want it to download to your tablet. it is the pin looking icon in the bottom corner of your movie. if you did not do that then it will only stream over the internet.

edit: the data is stored in the movie app. you will not see it as a file as this is one way that google protects the DRM for that movie.

Thanks ocnbrze
I don't remember if I clicked the little pin icon when I downloaded the movie last week. I've just looked now (whilst online) and there is a red pin there, so I clicked it and a message came up asking me if I wanted to "remove the movie" and it warned me that if I did, I would only be able to watch the movie when connected to the internet. So it sounds like I did click it last time. However, I thought I'd click OK to the message to see what happened and the pin colour changed from red to grey so I clicked it again and it started downloading the movie to the device all over again (2.5GB). When it downloads I'll click the red pin again to see what happens. If the movie disappears again when not online, do you think it could be a problem with my new Toshiba Tablet?? Ever heard of this problem before please?
Thanks again

nope never heard of this issue. i have tons of movies that i bought on the play store and they are downloaded to my asus transformer infinity with no issues. i can turn off my wifi signal on my tablet and it will play with no issues.

if it is already pinned then you should be able to watch without any issues when not on wifi.

try this pin it and then turn the wifi off on your tablet and see if it will play or not.

OK, just downloaded it again and there was a red pin icon in the bottom right corner when the download completed. When I click the icon I only get the option to "remove the movie" as described earlier. When I switched my wifi off it was still there, so "success" .... or so I thought..... However, I switched my tablet off and then back on again (wifi still off) and it has disappeared again. All I have now when I go to the Play Store app with the wifi off is a grey background with those words in the middle : "No Connection" and all links to all the various colored sections of the Play Store have gone. Only when I switch wifi back on do I get access to the movie again. Any thoughts??
