Movie Rentals not Available due to Root Access

This is a first for me...I'm running AOKP and I updated Google Play Movies last night and now I'm getting an error message. It doesn't matter because I'm not renting any movies, but I thought it was interesting that they know I'm rooted. Is there a work-around for this?

Maybe it's the ROM.
I'm rooted and it will let me rent movies.
I got to the pay screen but stopped because I don't actually want to rent one.

This is a known issue. I don't know if the app is still supported/updated but there was an app that bypassed the root check:

To be expected that they wouldn't want DRM-protected movie rentals to be viewed on a rooted device.
