Movies?

Have Prime and dock. I work out of town alot and am planning on using this setup to bring movies on the road with me. Have ordered plenty of SD and micro SD space.

I am wondering if anyone has any tips or hints that would make this easier or more enjoyable. I've also a 6' hdmi cable and may try and use android HTC phone somehow to remote control this.

I've a blu ray ripping program, what would be best format for best supported quality to convert to?

put either dice player or MXplayer on it. Both play pretty much any format under the sun.

the format you choose is basically going to be limited by how much you want to fill up your tablet/SD cards with movies. Id go for higher quality and taking up more space personally. May as well have good quality. .MOV or .MKV files are good for quality, .MP4 for okay quality and takes up less space i believe.

I use the free version of BS Player and I'm very happy with. I use .mkv HD files and this player is amazing. I stream a lot from my desktop and HD shows stream without buffering and pixelating across the home network. The ads don't pop up until you pause, so that's a plus for me too.

You didn't mention what coversion software you are using but I use DVD Catalyst 4. It's a great program and has presets for many devices at different resolutions. It's has not yet found a DVD it wouldn't convert. The customer support is second to none. E-mail them and within a few hours you'll get an answer no matter how trivial the question is.

They also have a player app that is OK but I mostly use MX

As far as using your phone as a remote there are apps that can do that. I use this and it works well with MX.

is there a blu ray converter you'd recommend?
DVD Catalyst will convert Blu ray but you need additional software and I've not tried to convert a Blu ray yet. I'll e-mail them and get more details.

From their website:

* DVD Catalyst 4 can convert Bluray movies and TV shows, with the help of programs like AnyDVD HD and MakeMKV.
