moving android apps to sd card (android 1.6.)?

moving android apps to sd card (android 1.6.)?
i want to be able to move my android apps to my sd card (16gb) but it doesn't give me an option to do so on 'settings'. i heard about android froyo, is it possible for me to upgrade it to that somehow? the app space on my internal memory is running low. please suggest anyway i can move the apps to my memory card.
i have lg optimus gt540, android 1.6

You can't do it on 1.6 and to upgrade, you'd need to install a custom ROM or wait for your carrier to upgrade. I think the former is your best bet.

There is an app on the market called apps2sd(?), but I'm not sure how/if that works.

Unfortunately it is simply not possible to move apps to a SD card under Android 1.6. The app APPS2SD requires Android 2.2.
