Moving Apps To SD Card

Hey guys, I have two android devices one android tv stick and one mxq. Both devices are rooted and I set both devices app install option to "2". This allowed me to move apps in the android tv stick from the internal storage to the nandflash(not sure what this means, a weird way the memory is divided in this device), which I was not able to move apps to prior to rooting and setting the intall to "2" etc. . However on neither device I move, apps to my 32 gb sd card, both devices do recognize it and it does appear in storage as available. But when I go to Settings/App on the MXQ, the move to SD Card option does not appear. And on the android tv stick, the move to SD Card option is available but the apps go to this "nandflash" and not the sd card. Has anyone had this issue before?

Ok so in that device it might be partitioned or something, but the option to move to sd card is available however it does not move it to the sd card just somewhere else within the device. And on the MXQ the option to move to sd card is not available at all.

Does anyone know why?

MXQ, MX, M8, M8E, etc...cheapo Chinese devices, sounds like they got partitioned internal storage rather than unified. And all you're probably doing is moving stuff from one internal partition to the other, rather than the actual SD storage. Partitioned internal storage is a relic from 2.x Android versions, however some cheapo unknown manufacturers seem to do it that way for some unknown reason.

As for actually trying to fix it...good luck!

In the end, it’s up to the app developers whether or not to allow 'move/install to' permissions, so maybe all the tweaking in the world won't help. :(

Hopefully, Android 6 on newer devices will allow TV boxes to format SD cards as 'adopted memory' which may ease the pain... but somehow I doubt it. :(
