Root Moving Backups off phone before Wiping?

Quick question before i flash this vanilla 2.2 rom to my incredible since this is my first time.. I did a full Titanium backup and am getting ready to do a nandroid backup. Do those files need to be moved off the phone prior to wiping? I would assume so but I fail to see anything mentioning to do that. Someone please specify. Thank you

The wipes clear your internal phone storage and cache, but leave your SD card (where those backups will be stored) intact.

I does not touch the internal storage either. It wipes device DATA but not internal storage or SD.

Yanno, just since I'm curious...here's a question :

When I do the two different "clears" in Nandroid, is that really necessary if I'm restoring a backup? Example : I found out last night my Authenticator for Battle.net was screwed up because I didn't deactivate my old one. Thankfully, I had a nice backup. So, I backed up my Froyo setup, restored the old one, fixed my Battle.net issue, then reloaded the Froyo backup. Did I NEED to clear things there? Or do backups kinda already do that for you?

Thanks B, wasn't aware of that.

This is one of those "fundamental misunderstandings" that constantly plague me. What's next - baby's don't really come from strorks?
