Root Moving from CM7.03 -> Oxygen - GingerVillian ??? Which way to go..

I'm currently running CM7.03, works well, but I've started having reboot, hanging issues.

So I plan to try Oxygen or GingerVillian... any one fancy telling me their pro's and cons ?

I think this thread really belongs in the root subforum - I've asked the mods if they can move it.

GV is based on CM, but tuned and tweaked by the developer. So it's got a lot more little features. Oxygen is simpler, closer to AOSP source. At first glance you might not notice much difference, but it will be in what settings there are, the size of the ROM (Oxygen is smaller, though not quite as small as it was). Try both, and see which works best for you.
 
I've moved from CM7 to Oxygen v2.1.6 and I'm pleased with it. I still have the important settings/customization I mostly use. Besides, that ROM is very stable, comes with a newer version of Android (v2.3.4), more battery efficient than CM7, and with a small ROM size (installed size on /system is just 91MB). You can also try Oxygen v2.2.1 with Android v2.3.5.
 
I'm using Oxygen 2.2.1 right now and I have to say that it delivers excellent battery life. I have very few issues with it to be honest, as it's lightweight and fast.

I ran 2.1.6 for about a month, the flashed 2.2.1 just cos it was newer - lol.
2.1.6 was good, 2.2.1 is better; in terms of battery life, responsiveness... but there is not much in it.
IMO I'd go 2.2.1 because its newer and is certainly no worse than 2.1.6 that I can see..
 
@Hadron - thanks, I've upgraded to Oxygen 2.1.6 to test out 2 days ago and i am very impressed.

One question i do have is that why is the screen orientation not working on the default launcher that comes with the rom eventhough "Auto-Rotate" option is enabled?

The screen only rotates when i go into an app e.g web browser.

I've had to install AWD Launcher and the screen orientation now works on homescreen and appdraw.

Is this a limitation in actual framework?

Just posted about disk space issues, that I'm hoping some one can help me with...

Apart from that I have a couple things to sort..
1. I used Titanium to backup the phone, but this hasn't done the SMS messages ? is that normal ?

2. How do I enable the trackpad to unlock the phone ?

3. The lock screen has a different wallpaper to mine, can that be changed ?

You need a separate app for SMS backups/restores - i use Mybackpro for this but there are others.

Not a 'hack' that's included in Oxygen but i think there's a link to a mod for this on the xda thread.

Not sure about that, i set an image as my wallpaper and its same on desktop and lockscreen.
