Help Moving Internal Storage Apps to External SD Card

I am beyond frustrated right now. Recently I received this Alcatel One Touch A564c phone from my parents(it's running Android 4.4.2). I was pretty excited at first. However the internal storage wass quite lacking with only 2 GB of storage. So naturally, I thought it was best to expand on the storage and bought off Amazon a 32 GB SanDisk microSD card. However I can't at all get any of the apps to install onto the SD card. My question is what am I doing wrong? Every time I go onto forums pages I see other people having options when clicking on the app to "Move to SD card" but I don't get this option. As I stated in the beginning I am"beyond frustrated" and have been searching for a solution all week. If any of you have any ideas on what I should do I would be extremely grateful.

You are probably doing nothing wrong, it's just that some apps that come with the phone WON'T let you move them to the SD card. If the app doesn't show the option to "move to SD card" you can't. Most apps that you download yourself will allow you to move them, with the only exception that comes to mind right now being the keyboards.

Except that since Android 4.0 Android has not supported moving apps to SD. A few manufacturers added it back to some of their devices, but in most cases I'd not expect KitKat to allow this at all.

In fact only 2 releases of Android ever natively support this, 2.2 and 2.3. Even then it only moved some apps, and only moved part of them.

What you really want is promised as a feature of Android M, but whether that will ever make it to that device I don't know.

Otherwise you need to root and make a few other changes if you want to do something about this.

Yup. Right now your sd card is only good for storing media I'm afraid. (dont be too harsh on your parents. I'm sure they didn't research internal storage before buying) :thumbsupdroid:
