Help mp3 apps not working on galaxy s6 edge

My husband and I both got the 32 bit galaxy s6 edge. We downloaded the same mp3 apps...his loads tons of music and works perfect....mine won't even return songs for a search. What's wrong?? Is it something in my settings??

Mine does the same.It seems no mtter wha media you download ,whether ringtones,picture,mp3s, wallpaper the are saved te th internal storage.Some reason the phone does no see any files saved to the internal storage, I used the samsung Myfile app to check where the files were downloaded.I even moved the to the correct folders and they would still not show. Noapp will see them ,music player, gallery ect ringtones or notifications.I read somewhre you had to hav root access .I'm not sure what to do.Wish someone could help

Do you have usernames and passwords for these apps? If so, are you both using the same username and passwords? Longshot but that might be the problem. It's also possible he is messing with you, give him hell and don't feed him for a week. That might do it.:)

passwords doesnt matter

No...in the actual app (any music app)...
Example: he searches lil wayne and gets over 50 song back in his search...I search and get 4 songs or none at all.
Do you think it's just a setting? Or is my phone messed up?
 
Personal I think the files, no mater what they are, mp3,pictures ringtones,etc have to be downloaded to a certain folder and we don't have access to do that unless the phone is rooted.I've moved the files to every folder possible but the app only sees the original files not the ones downloaded.
 
So it sounds like a bit of a major issue with media files and the S6? Glad i waited rather than rushing out and getting one as soon as it was available.
 
Found the solution.Called samsung and they had no idea. But I'm well versed on android to I finally figured if out. Open up file manager. Hit device storage.Scroll down and find .nomedia file and delete it. Restart your device.Any folder that has a .nomedia file in it will never be reconized by any app on the phone. It wasn't in a specific folder, it was in the my files manager home so nothing from the internal storage would show up .Now my pics,ringtones ,videos,and mp3s all show up.good luck

Delete .nomedia file in the music folder

I am having the same problem but I cannot find this .nomad file you are speaking off on my s6 edge. If possible could you list the steps from the home screen of where this should be thanks
 
Open the file manager, find the folder that the music is in. Click on the cd folder. On top click "more" and then "show hidden files" and then you should see the filed

Thank you very much got it now.

I have another question I downloaded a song from the play store and would like to use that as a ringtone is there anyway to do this as with my s4 it was just a case of picking it and that was it but when in the ringtone section a searching for more, the song I have downloaded does not show up

Try searching for the song ringtone in the play store I did that and it automatically was in my ringtones. You can also download zedge grin the store.find a ringtone and it will work.

Download a ringtone maker app In the Google play store, snip as much of the song as you need, and toy should be able to select it after
 
I found more than one the first time. You have to check each media folder, such as ringtones ,music, ect.then delete them all. Not sure if it worked with the default samsung music played cause I use Google play music. Also every so you download Thai maui contain any media will automatically have one do you will have to go and delete it then. It's a privacy thing to stop files from being viewed by other apps. Let me know if you need help

Turn off developer options and then u can dl music. Same thing happened to my wifes edge plus. I have the note 5, we downloaded the same music downloader, mine worked fine. Hers would load any songs. I dug around in her settings and turned off developer options and hers is now working fine
 
Deleted .nomedia files and turned off developer options, uninstalled mp3 music downloader, restarted phone, reinstalled app...still the search function doesn't work properly...wife's phone is the same and hers works fine...

Please anyone knows a fix.
