Ms exchange insane data usage!

A couple days ago my phone all of a sudden started to get warm and slow and the battery went from full to zero in a few hours. Then I got a message that I reached my data limit for the month. I checked this out and was shocked to find out that exchange services had used an insanely amount of data. We are talking about 700 mb in a couple of days. I haven't changed any settings. This happened over night.....

Anyone with the same issue? And a fix?

Samsung Galaxy S3. Android 4.04.

How many days back are you syncing mail? Perhaps set it to 30 days or less. Also perhaps change settings to not auto download attachments.

Since you didn't mention it I have to ask... did you check your mailbox for a large volume of new email or attachments?

No, I don't auto download attachments. As I said, I haven't changed any settings, and this was. not issue until a couple days ago.

Oh man, this happened to me also, just in the last 5 days or something. My phone is always warm. If I check the battery usage I see that it does not sleep but is always awake.
Android os is using around 25% of my battery and then exchange is around 20%.
I installed juice defender and the phone is at least cooler and the android os is down to 18% of battery usage, but exchange is at 21% and I haven't received or sent a single email since I last charged my phone.
Exchange has used approximately 400mb in data last 7 days and I have only received around 10 emails none of which are more then 50kb or something.

I now disabled background data transfer for exchange and the phone is a little bit better. The battery is now down to 60% in 2h40m with very little usage. Which is better than before but still quite bad.

Please let me know if you find a fix

I believe I have resolved the issue. It seems like it is some sort of loop and it gets stuck with continously syncing. I deleted my account and added it again. This didn
