Help ms910 BASEBAND HELP

Fujinn

Newbie
Ok, this will require developers knowledge. As we all know, after the ZVE update the LG ESTEEM with METRO PCS does not hold 4G. Infact, it never did. Our ms910 works as a hybrid and drops from LTE to CDMA when not in reach of 4G connectivity and drops to 3G or 1x, or no data. Difference between now and then, is that now our phone is NOT auto switching back to LTE once it is dropped unless our phone is RESTARTED.
IS THERE ANY DEVELOPER THAT KNOWS HOW TO MODIFY OUR BASEBAND NETWORK CONFIGURATION BACK TO LTE WITHOUT RESTARTING THE PHONE? OR KNOWS WHICH FILE AND WHICH COMMAND NEEDS TO BE MODIFIED TO GET THE FREAKING PHONE TO SWITCH BACK TO LTE BASEBAND AFTER DROPPING TO CDMA? PLEASE!!!!! ITS NOT THAT HARD, ATLEAST DOESN'T SEEM TO BE....ahhhhhhh.... I know its hard....

since you updated to zve have you updated prl. and has ive stated in another thread. 4g seems to be area affected. in south fl i lost it. in tampa i have it all day

Indeed I am running 3036 prl, completely up to date and as far as 4g, I also get 4g all over, but like described before, if drive thru a specific signal blocked area behind a building for example or a part of a road where reception is not great, it drops to 3g and instead of changing back to 4g once back in 4g coverage, it stays 3g unless the handset is reset.

Greetings... I am not a tech just an Lg Esteem owner. I use a program called Any Cut to create an Activity shortcut to Network Settings... Click the shortcut, then you can change network settings manually... I read that if you leave it on Lte, you can loose service when not in that network range. PS, Any Cut is not carried in the store anymore, you need to google it for download. Enjoy.

I have AnyCut, but I don't know how to switch it to LTE.... Also, the original poster is right...this has been a problem with my phone ever since switching to ZVE and I'm SOOOOO tired of having to reboot my phone every time it drops to 3G. There simply HAS to be a fix for this. Please, someone help!!!!

Okay, I figured it out! What you have to do is download the app called AnyCut. Click on New Shortcut, scroll down to MetroPCS hidden menu, save shortcut to desktop. Then, click the new desktop shortcut, click on Network Select, then Click on Data Connection Select. Just toggle off/on Internet Data enabled. It resets it to 4G. I just tested this. I was using ADownloader to download some torrents, noticed it dropped to 3G, tried this method and it worked!

Hope that helps! It's much better than having to wait for the slow @$$ Esteem to reboot. If you learn another, faster way, please share.

Unfortunately that does not work, that is the same as throwing your phone on airplane mode and then disabling it back to normal mode or the same as going to settings/wireless/mobilenetwork and disabling data service and re-enabling it. That doesn't reset the Mobile network type it is connected to which is CDMA when it drops from 4G to 3G.... I've tried EVERYTHING that had anything related to data/internet/connection/apn/network under any cut, and the only option that works which is to switch to LTE only or CDMA only (defaulted at hybrid) would force my phone on a restart anyways which is the whole thing I'm avoiding. I can just turn off and on my phone and if I'm on 4G coverage, it'll stick right to 4G until it drops to 3G again and that's that.

*edited - I will double check on this specific method again as I don't remember if I tried this when I was stuck in 3G and I will report back with confirmation..... it worked for you I guess and for what I read, you had the exact same issue.

I just rolled back to zvb it's been working fine untill they fix this zve 4g dropping all the time. I'm sticking to zvb.

Do you have any communications through your phone affected using the ZVB? From what I understand, it should be giving you trouble since they combined TMobile towers with Metro?

Doubled checked the Any Cut internet data on and off and confirm it does not reset it back to 4G.

Nahhh the zvb will work but will fall out with signal with in a day or 2 this will allow you to update with the the lg tool to the latest zve baseband . But if you are having problems and your not rooted you can use the lg tool to repair the signal . Just go into the lg tool . Follow the directions and UPDATE ALL DRIVER .then check to see if you have the latest baseband software version if you do its good. Now leave device plugged up go to the top right corner its a box scroll down to UPDATE RECOVERY.this will fix any errors that was made during the downloads of current software updates . Once finished leave device on for a hour . Then do the update with the *228 and 5 and you should be set post back with the outcome .

Ty I will give this a try tomorrow, I'm actually rooted and running zve rom#2 atm, so I will have to update the recovery, then drivers and do all that. I will post outcome once I have completed the steps and trialed it.

But now that I read that correctly, I believe I have done that before.. Just didn't do the prl update as it was already updated to the latest 3036. The outcome was the same, 4G drops to 3G and then from there stays unless I reboot the phone. Now remember, I am not having a problem getting signal.... My problem is my phone not auto switching back to LTE once dropped to CDMA, and I believe this is a METRO PCS LG ESTEEM USER WIDE issue, most don't even know wtf is going on.

Alright, so today for the first time, I realized my phone did infact switch back to 4G automatically, I did not notice how long after I got to my house (3-4bars always 4G, phone never drops to 3G here) that it switch back to LTE.

So now I'm interested on figuring out where do I tweak the with the timer that its set to search for connections or anything related so I can change it to look for it every 5min or so?

Take back what I said, phone still does not switch back to 4G without shutting down and back on the phone itself. Yesterday I went to a friends house, connection dropped to 3G when I got there, drove back to my house where it has 4G coverage around 4pm. Today 2pm phone still 3G.... restarted my phone and boom, 4GLTE up and running... go fking figure.

What prl are u using . Sounds like you are one of them neighborhoods without 4glte. Something like in the cut or valley or maybe a small town. You may hear that others are doing the same what state are you in

Using the most up to date # 3036. And I'm pretty sure it doesn't switch PRL while its on, may be wrong, but at least when I check my status its always 3036 even when it drops down to 3G and stays stuck until restarting of phone.

the issue is your location. as i have said before. i lived in south florida and i had dropping to 3g and staying there issue. i currently am in tampa and never lose 4g so its a problem with receptors of the sort. give a little time for change to occur

I wasn't trying to be smart was just asking maybe if you change prl it may do the job of switching back . Its only a tower issue and the PRL control which tower . So use the LGPNST to change prl.

That's the thing. Just because you don't lose 4G, it does not mean if you drop to 3G it will reselect the LTE 4G once back in coverage. It only means that your case is a fortunate one. Maybe I am wrong, maybe it is only a south florida issue, but then again there is 1-2 maybe 3 people who can confirm this issue to its specifics and it is not enough to say it is only my specific area.... but here it is, it is area code 954 in broward. for the records.

So you think if I try a different PRL other than 3036 it could do the job? Because I have in the past maybe 1-2 months ago done the PRL update even though it already had 3036 on it. I have brought my phone from customized rom #2 back to stock completely, updated PRL and same issue.. I then customized it back, rooted, again with the 3036 PRL and same exact issue.

Do you think maybe using 1-2 earlier versions, maybe 3034 or 3035 would do it? I'll research on this tonight and probably give it a try within the next few days.

Nahhh how about 2035 or2036 i got 2036 and i can say no problems either . And i was the first to post problems with zve updates
