Help MT4GS problems with crashing, apps and texting

I've had my phone for 1 week (literally) and it's brand new. I used to have a G1 so I was REALLY excited to get one of the newest Android/HTC phones! However, I've been experiencing some problems that are making me seriously consider getting a different phone.

Lately my phone has been having system crashes. It's becoming a daily thing. It seems to happen randomly (once while I was typing a long text, when I play a game of scrabble, reading something in a web browser, opening the Android market, etc.)

My games crash a lot, I don't even want to play them anymore because once they do crash then it takes forever to re-open them, they open in wrong locations (such as opening into settings or a scrabble game rather than the menu). I realize this could be a problem on the app developers ends, so it's not my biggest concern, more of an annoyance because I never had these problems with games on the G1.

And finally, the latest problem (started about an hour ago actually) is that normally when you text and are typing using the virtual keyboard the phone does a vibrate thing everytime you press a key. Well now when I text it will spaz out and be doing the vibrating then stop for a few words then vibrate again then stop again, on and off again and again.

This is a BRAND NEW phone, only 1 week old, it hasn't been dropped or used heavily or had a bunch of crap downloaded onto it. Are these problems fixable or should I go into a T-Mo store and handle things with them?

If you haven't rooted the phone or anything, I might suggest going to Tmo... Although I might bet that they would just suggest doing a factory reset. But if you continue having problems they might give you a new phone? My phone is running well, I am running the stock ROM including the update that came out a few weeks back.... But I have rooted the phone, and taken out some bloat apps that I never use. Let us know what happens, and keep in mind that if you somehow end up doing a factory reset, it will wipe the apps and data from the phone. Wish I knew of some real solutions to those problems!

I couldn't offhand find a direct simple explanation, but I'm sure there probably is one on this site, rooting is what many people come to a site like this to do. Basically rooting gives you administrator privelidges(like in Windows), i.e., it allows you to modify or remove system files and applications, and to run custom software on the device.

There is no guarantee that rooting will fix your problems necessarily; rooting itself doesn't really have any effect, it is what you do after rooting that can sometimes improve the performance of your device, often by installing improved versions of the Operating System made by developers on sites like this. There are some custom versions out there, but I basically prefer the stock system.

Also, rooting does void your warranty(although one can always bring the device back to almost the same unrooted condition)... So it is not necessarily recommended unless you are ready to probably do some of your own troubleshooting and looking for answers on sites such as this and such. In your case you might start with Tmo, but I really don't know.

My phone has none of those problems, so I would suggest taking it back to tmobile for a warranty exchange.
 
I also forgot to mention the battery life...Here is an example fresh off the presses:

I got up 70 minutes ago. I've sent 2 text messages. THAT'S IT. No games, no internet, no calls, no camera. NOTHING.

My 100% battery 70 minutes ago is now at 69%...

Also, a ton of my apps won't update. I will click update all and some update but others (Google Maps, Voice search, T-Mobile Mall, etc) will not update, they never have since I got the phone, even though it says they have updates..??
