MTK6577 location problems

Hi all,

I have two phones with the mtk6577 chipset both of them are htc one x clones, I'm using them in the uk on the three network
I use lattitude quite a bit but some some reason both the phones keep locating to the same place in wolverhampton regardles of my actual location, the only time this doesn't seem to happen is when im at home or at work,
Wifi is always switched on, and i have turned mock locations off in the developers option, what else can i try ??

GPS will change it but as soon as its turned off it goes straight back to the same location in wolverhampton

Anyone else had such problems with an mtk6577 phone ??

You might be lucky that it doesn't go back to some location in Guangdong Province, China.

Is it a particular place in Wolverhampton, a place you've been to?

Software is probably faulty, that often happens with cheapo knock-offs. More than likely there isn't any fix either, apart from getting your money back. You could try resetting it back to factory defaults.

Many Chinese phones use the MTK6577 SoC, including my Lenovo. Location and GPS is absolutely fine.
