multi-language voice input

I have keyboards for 2 languages installed, English and German. In Settings, in Google Voice Typing, I also have the same 2 language, English as primary. When I have the English keyboard up, I can switch to Google Voice Typing and get English recognized. But I only see 1 selection for Google Voice Typing, no language specification. So when I have the German keyboard up and want to input German Voice it is still interpreted as English and thus garbage comes out.

So what am I missing? This worked on my previous Samsung S4 flawlessly.

Is there another way to get voice input? The only way I found is to press the little keyboard icon in the bottom right corner and select Google Voice Typing as 'keyboard'. Do I need to look for another keyboard? I am using the Google Keyboard

Regards,
Rich

In answer to my own question... in the google keyboard, there is a microphone symbol in the top right corner. Using that, the proper language file is selected for voice input.
