Multi-question...

I have had my TBolt for about 3 wks (switched from the DROID 1) and I need some help/tips/suggestions.

1) What apps should I get to "pimp" my phone out?

2) What is the BEST app for Video chat? (I currently have Skype [Not Skype for Verizon] on my phone, along with Tango.)

3) On the Phandroid app, try to post and it asks for a prefix and there's no area to choose one, I try typing in "Help", "Discussion", "Question" in []'s, but nothing works.

4) Is there anyway to remove to programed ":)'s" and add ":-)" one's so I can see the cool emote?

5) What other tips or suggestions do you have for a newbie to the TBolt?

Thanks in advanced!

if you're willing to sacrifice the sense widgets, i'd download adw ex launcher. it's easily the best launcher replacement available. the customizations are endless. also, i'd check out the "screen show-off" thread and see what widgets you like and go from there.

the best app for video chat is skype. you can find the apk that allows video chat around here and i guess it works great on wifi and 4g but is basically useless on 3g (which is to be expected). i've also used fring but on a weak 3g connection, but the ui was pretty nice and simple.

i don't know what to tell you about the issues you're having with phandroid. i've never started a thread using the app. sorry :/

also don't really know what you mean about the smilies.

my suggestions: really keep track of how your battery responds to apps when you download them. same with widgets. certain apps will just eat your battery alive. don't get a task manager. i feel that the main key to getting good battery life is to really be picky about your "accounts & sync" in the main settings menu.

apps that'll help you love your phone even more: funny jokes app, wave launcher, and (almost forgot to mention this one in regards to "pimping your phone") widgetlocker.

enjoy! :)

Thanks. I will look up those apps.

In regards to the smiles, this smiley, :) doesn't make a green android guy, but :-) does. Any way to make the :) into a :-) on the keyboard?

Skype is always the default answer when referring to video chat. In reality, yahoo messenger kicks its ass in almost every way.

I think part of that, is connection dependent. I've used Skype over 3G connections just fine. Yahoo on the other hand, the video refresh seems a bit too slow, and the video a little dark. Didn't seem to matter if I was on 3G, or wi-fi. I expect that on 4G, it would be a lot smoother on either.

Probably one of those things where Results may Vary.
