DroidX Multi-touch keyboard for Froyo - xda-developers
please read at least the first post of that thread before continuing. this is not a flashable file, it must be installed manually. i only do this type of work from connectbot or root explorer. in this case i used the second method and will give instructions for doing so.
instructions for installing using root explorer.
if you break your phone it is not mine, nor anyone elses fault. i used this method and have had zero issues with the keyboard. i prefer this one to the gingerbread and am very happy with it.
unzip the file from the first post to the root of your sd card so it's easy to find.
make a backup copy of the stock keyboard(/system/app/LatinIME.apk) and the lib file (system/lib/libjni_latinime.so).
copy or move the new lib file into /system/lib. when prompted to overwrite the existing file, click yes then make sure to change permissions to rw-r-r.
copy or move the keyboard file into /system/app. change the permissions like above then make sure you remove the LatinIME.apk.
click on the new keyboard apk and choose install.
exit root explorer and reboot.
long press a text field and choose multitouch keyboard. works like a charm.
i have not tried the black version.
