Multimeda Organization

Hi All:
Roughly 3 weeks and counting and LOVING my GS3.. Every now and then I do come across something that brings back some of that suppressed iLove but for the most part i'm over it. There is one thing that hopefully you kind folks can help figure out..

Multimedia Storage and Management on ICS. Very Poor.

1. Gallery shows every folder, be it picture or movie, that is on my device. Why can't I just show my photo gallery ? I want to keep my pictures seperate from my movies.

2. I've tried every trick in the book but I can't seem to create folders for albums I import through Kies. Is there another way to do this ? Kies has the folder but once it's imported it just dumps everything into the Camera folder. Terrible.

iPhone does this segmentation very well on their devices. Photo Album for photos and Movie Gallery for films.. no muddying of the waters.

Cheers;
Jab.

1. I use QuickPic since its able to segregate and hide and exclude albums. However I am finding the stock ICS gallery fine for my needs. Note that Android does not have a separate "Movie Gallery", it uses one Gallery app for both videos and pictures. I just move a picture to a folder if I want to organize.

As for the issue with Kies, I must admit that I do not use it for anything apart from updating the software, so I can't help you how to fix that bit. I just access my device memory from My Computer (using Windows), and arrange the pictures and videos in a folder arrangement I want. Way easier and faster than using something like Kies or iTunes.

I use Quickpic as well for my pictures. I like how you can include the folders I want to show in the app. I use a file organizer app called ES File Explorer to organize/create all my folders. I place all my videos in one folder and use the stock video app to play them.

So in short, I'd say start with a file organization app. Then from there choose a 3rd party app that suits your needs as to how to display those video files.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

I'm using Explorer v1.1 now to manage my files and folders. Still not pleased with the gallery app and/or any 3rd party app i've seen so far but at least its organized.

P.S: Kies is a total letdown.
