Help Multiple Accounts Issue?

I have two e-mail accounts I like to manage and did so on my Droid with ease. One is my main Google/Gmail account.

The other is my work e-mail. This also happens to be hosted on a Gmail server (we use a business Gmail account at work).

On the Droid I would go into Gmail and set up a second account and give it the credentials for logging into my work e-mail and it would just work. I would get One or two M icons in the notification bar depending on which account or accounts got a new message.

Now I'm getting that but I'm also getting an unwanted by-product also. On this phone every update for an app gives me a update notification that's duplicated with one for each mail address.

What did I goof up? I didn't want a distinct full account set up, just monitoring of both e-mail accounts.

Did you set up one or both accounts in the GMail app?

It might be prudent to create the other GMail account in the Email app...

I've tried it numerous ways and nothing matches what I had. Previously I would launch the Gmail app and under Accounts I could easily switch between the accounts (home and work) with ease using the same interface.

Now, if I set up as a Google account (wasn't an option on the old Droid) then I get the unified interface but it also seems to think this is some sort of main Google account and thus I get the unwanted side-effect I mentioned.

If I go into Gmail and click Accounts I see just the one home account. I can then click Add Account and I get this new menu I never saw before with all sorts of different types. Silly me, I then tried "Email Accounts" and picked Gmail and that, I thought, would work but it doesn't! Instead of launching in Gmail, Gmail still doesn't see the account and I then have to access all of that e-mail from the Email app that isn't Gmail and thus has a totally different look, feel and features!

WTH?!?! heheheh
