Multiple Android Devices on Single Google Account

Newbie
I have an HTC EVO 4G and all has been fine up until the point that I purchased an Android Tablet.

When signing in on the tablet using the same Google ID, I ended up with all the apps downloading to my tablet which I had on my phone automatically. Also noticed that I have the same wallpaper on my tablet as I do on my phone.

Although I do want to use the same Google account on both devices for such things as contacts, email etc. I do NOT want the same wallpaper and set of apps on both devices.

1- Is there a way to have separate devices with separate apps and wallpaper etc while still using the same Google ID?

2- Now that I have the wallpaper and apps on my tablet identical to my phone, what happens to my phone apps/wallpaper if I remove apps and change wallpaper on my tablet? To make this simpler.. If I remove an app from my tablet or phone will it also be removed from the other device? How about wallpaper?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Welcome to Android Forums!

Not really sure why that's happening. I have three devices (soon to be four) all sync'ing to the same gmail account. While I have common mail and calendar events, I don't have the same apps not do I have the same wallpaper.

Seems I remember having checked a box somewhere on my phone during setup which asked something like "Would you like your wireless settings, configuration etc to be backed up to Google".

I know Google backs up things like wireless settings and some of the config because I have seen it restored before after a clean wipe on my device.

That's under privacy settings. However, I don't think that would change wallpapers, etc. I have backup and restore enabled and it doesn't seem to want to make all my devices identical.

Strange.. Well, I know after booting the first time on my Android device and logging in with my Google account, it downloaded 48 apps and change the wallpaper to the one on my phone. Hmmm.

I can remove the apps and change the wallpaper, just hope it doesn't somehow do the same to my phone.

Thanks for your help, I will assume it's a one time thing and move on in hopes nothing strange will surface again.

By the way, I am using Cyanogen Mod 7 on a Nook Color. Guess I should have led with that :-)

Just signed in for the first time on a new Asus transformer and it did ask me if iwanted to restore the apps and settings for this account. I uncheckedthe box. It does, list some phone apps as being available, but it didn't automatically install them.
