So I've been using having a lot of problems with my Spectrum lately, the most prominent one being the phone and messaging app freezing and not responding. I'll try to open it, and it will pause for a second before it goes to black. And then that happens, I can't see my contacts either. Even if the messaging app is open and appearing to work, someone could text me and I won't know for any number of hours, and all a sudden it'll show me. This is sometimes fixed after rebooting but not always. I also constantly get the text box saying "The process com.process.gapps has stopped working." Also, as of the V8 update, my phone keeps trying to download it and apply it, which sends me into CWM. This all started happening after I started using the ROM IcyFusion.

May I also add that I have dropped my phone at least 8 tines from waist or knee height, however no major exterior damage is observed. Could this be the cause? If not then what should I do? :/

We use to block the OTA with build prop tweaks on the OG Droids custom ROMs.
OTA looks at build prop for build number and triggers update or should I say use to.

If you don't mind installing custom roms then you should definitely try out cm10.1 beta 4. Like nokoko said it's very stable and smooth and also you aren't going to get any ota messages.

If you want to run stock then go here http://androidforums.com/spectrum-all-things-root/641156-rom-stock-rooted-deodexed-zv7.html this is a debloated version of stock. You will get a wiper app force close after booting but it's nothing and can be ignored and frozen if you want.

If you want bone stock and a fresh start then go here Flashing LG signed Firmware - LG Spectrum - RootzWiki and you will be back to the way your phone came from the store.

Cm10.1 beta4 is your best bet though. And probably AOKP42 beta5 soon. I'm actually running aokp42 right now and waiting for the latest update which fixes it's major bug.

Does that require plugging my phone into my PC? It doesn't go into usb mode, and I'm not sure if it's capable of going into Download Mode anymore. I've tried before and it didn't work but it might've been something I was doing wrong.

Well, flashing roms like cm10 doesn't require hooking up to the computer, but to get the phone rooted and cwm installed if you 'cab back' to stock does. I would, as imu said, flash one of the v7 stock roms, then flash cm10.1 or aokp42.

But before you do, make sure you turn on gps in stock and get a position lock(so turn wifi off). That will ensure gps works on you other roms. It should anyway, but I do it as a matter of course.

I've successfully flashed CM 10.1 but after following my routine of turning of late at home and using WiFi I no longer have 4G...any thoughts?

I assume you've tried rebooting? or toggling airplane mode?

If not try airplane mode first, if that doesn't work then reboot, if that doesn't work then go to settings and make sure CDMA/LTE/EvDo is selected under network settings if that all checks out then try dirty flashing the rom.

If all that fails then just backup all your apps and do a clean wipe and reflash

Did you turn off mobile data or LTE? Do you still have 3g? If so, try what IMU said, going into the mobile networks menu, and make sure Network Mode is set to LTE/CDMA/EvDo.

Then just make sure you're using the mobile data toggle, not the LTE. I use it all the time and have never lost 4g, not from that anyway! ;)
