Help Multiple PCs will not recognize Opitmus Elite (and other assorted nightmares)

Lurker
So it looks as if I was one of the lucky people to receive one of the "lemon" OE's. I just recently purchased it used on Amazon for $100. Phone locks up during phone calls, can't get back to home screen have to pull battery. Random reboots for no reason, battery was fully charged last night at 1am, woke up 7 hours later to a fully drained battery, this was directly after a factory reset with nothing running and wifi disabled. Phone gets extremely hot while idling.

So I'm here because I'm trying to root the phone to save it's life as a last ditch effort before I go out and eat the $100 I just spent. Problem is, on both of my Win7 PCs, using multiple USB cables, the phone is not recognized ever.

Steps I've taken so far:

1. Uninstalled reinstalled USB drivers, specifically this version: LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN37AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.7.2.zip

2. Disabled\Enabled Debug mode

3. Disabled\Enabled mass storage\charge mode

4. Multiple hard and factory resets

5. Same USB cables operate fine with my Droid X.

6. Same USB cables charge the OE when connected to PC, just not recognized to view files, nor does it appear in device manager.

7. Attempted with and without the SD card inserted.

Hoping someone out there has an idea of what I can do next. If not, hoping someone out there convinces me to just move on and save the headache :)

TIA!!

It seems you've tried a lot of troubleshooting. Some of the issues you describe could be solved after rooting. However, if you can't get it to connect to any PC, I'd give up if I were you. Did you install all of the USB drivers? I think there are at least three of them which download in succession and that process can be a little buggy in my experience. I've definitely have to repeat that process before.

Thanks for the reply. The other drivers shouldn't be necessary though. The others are for like USB modem, and some other functionality. After seeing a friends HTC One V last night, for only a $100 more, I will be getting that instead and running over my OE repeatedly with a mac truck.

YES YES YES! can i bring my LG optimus Elite Too?

USB functionality stopped 3 months after i bought it ( about 2 months after I rooted it.)
NOTE: it was not only on some computers.. as it worked just fine out of box to get into my SD card as a storage via USB cable. the driver was the one u listed.

Same driver, same PC, Same Windows/updates (nothing new) no connection

I also have the processor lag(or whatever the F it is..)that makes the touch screen intermittently but constantly non responsive >

I have to screen-lock my phone then unlock it to text "hello" and again to text "what", and then again to text "are you up to".

Takes me about 10 times of locking /unlocking to finish 1 text message.

LG OPTIMUS ELITE
quality of base(original O.S.) software - 4/10
quality of base hardware(CPU architecture / RAM) - 5/10
durability of this junk.. - 9/10 !?
why why why make a turd indestructible WHY!

Hope this helps> go Samsung or go home.
