Help Multiple problems with my Nexus 5. Battery life.

I'm just running stock currently with root; I'm not sure why it's being so good. Prior to upgrading to L, Google Play Services was destroying my battery life. I don't know if some of the latest updates of Google stuff just didn't play well with KK anymore or what?!?

Play services was literally keeping my device awake ALWAYS. Now I don't really see it show up in the battery monitor at all and my battery life has been really good.

That was an estimate without games. If I play a game I'll never see 2 hours of SOT. If I don't touch it and have a moderate cell signal then the battery life is very good (unless some Google service decides to be annoying). I had noticed that after Lollipop my sleep drain was much better but life with usage was worse. Since I didn't have a problem making it through the day I didn't worry about it, but it'd be nice to use the phone a bit and still make the day. Just haven't pulled the trigger.

Play services used to cause problems for me as well (not awake all the time, but there were days when it would decide to be demon possessed and would keep my phone awake, presumably with nightmares). And yes, with L, that doesn't seem to happen anymore. But regardless, 5 hours SOT with only half battery used - WOW! I'm jealous ;)
 
Did the FDR last week and haven't noticed any improvements. It's like everything uses more juice now compared to KitKat. I may even sideload back to KitKat to see if it's any better.
 
I went back to 4.4.4 and my SOT has doubled. I have also kept it on Dalvik. I might switch to ART sometime and see how that compares. I also hear 5.1 will come out next month, I'd like to see how that works out.
 
Play services is killing mine.

Ever since 6.5.99 arrived it now eats 50% over night.

Read on the Google forums/discussions that it calendar sync related
