Help Multitasking problems

I've moved from an iphone to a galaxy s3 but I'm having problems when it comes to multitasking and switching between apps.
With the iPhone if I switched to another app and then back to the original one, the original app would be frozen in its previous state, so I could carry on where I left off. However, if I do this with the s3,this doesn't always happen. Often if it's the browser, the screen will refresh itself which is annoying. Also, if I'm downloading something in Dolphin browser and switch to other tasks and then back again, more likely than not the downloading will have stopped.
Am I doing anything wrong? Btw I'm switching using the home button, not the back button which I know closes the app.

That's not so bad... Why don't you try the Opera Mini web browser?... I use it frequently, and it works pretty well...

Holding the home button down will bring up the recent apps window. Going back to an app that way brings you back to its last state . at least 99.9% Of the time for me .

Different browsers have different defaults bro.
Play around with in-app settings.
Most (firefox especialy) return to where you were but modern browsers are very heavy so if you use a few other apps, android has to get rid of it.
Usin a light browser like the opera mini as the dude said should help

Thanks for the tips guys, I'll give that a go. I guess it's a ram issue as I have the international 1gb s3 so android is always killing apps!
