Multitasking question

Yatezy

Android Enthusiast
This isn't the usual question about multitasking or RAM as I have a half decent understanding of androids way of handling it.

From what I've read the S3's memory management ain't the greatest. Repeatedly apps (esp the browsers) will redraw as if the app has been closed and opened again. It's a bit of pain in the rear tbh! But I noticed when I used a different launcher to my current one (I'm usually using apex but tried WP8 launcher) apps would stay open in the background far better. What's the reason for this? Does apex force the phone to close apps, even very recently used ones, or is apex too bloated causing android to close apps to retain memory?

I'm using a script at the minute which has helped multitask properly but it does slow my phone down considerably. I do have a feeling the script and the ROM may not be playing together very well though, I'm running Ultima v9 with the latest siyah.

I didn't think it did but there is a noticeable difference in multitasking between the two of them. WP8 launcher has about 100mb more free ram than apex and I know that shouldn't matter due to the way it handles ram.

I might attempt a complete fresh install and wipe the entire phone tbh.

I'd suggest a cache clean from recovery first (after uninstalling all aftermarket launchers) & then re-install your launcher of choice.

If you're looking for something APEX-ISH,I HIGHLY recommend HOLO LAUNCHER:

It may not have as many bells & whistles as APEX,but,it strikes a nice balance between function w/o consuming very many resources.
