Help Music app interrupts other music apps

dpilon

Lurker
I tried a google search for this but came up empty. I have a stock Droid X and have used both ubermusic and poweramp for a music player. In the past week or two, the stock music app (which I can't uninstall or freeze without root) interrupts randomly when I'm listening to something on either ubermusic or poweramp. It just starts playing whatever song I last listened to in the music app. This happens randomly every 10 minutes or so and is making my phone pretty much useless as a music device. I also had the new google music app installed and it would interrupt as well, but I uninstalled it to try to fix the problem.

I am thinking the issue may be with media services rather than any individual app, but I'm not sure. Any fixes that preferably don't involve factory resets? I tried blacklisting it with watchdog at 0% cpu and it hasn't interrupted since, but that was only 10 minutes ago.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Have things worked out for you? I just wanted to say that rooting isn't as foreboding or as dangerous as it may at first seem. All root does is give you the ability to modify your phone, it does not actually do anything to your phone. Plenty of users root their phone simply to freeze a few apps or to periodically use wifi tethering for short periods of time while keeping everything else as stock as the day it was unboxed.

I actually now think it is my headphones. I noticed that poweramp started randomly going forward a song and making the beep sound it makes when you use headset controls. It also never happens when I plug it into my computer's audio jack. I'm going to try new headphones and see if that helps. You're right though, I will probably root my phone and have more control over these problems.
