music player fast forward and rewind ??

Am I missing something or does the stock music player not have a rewind or FastForward button

there are "previous track" and "next track" buttons either side of play

i would have thought a long press on these would act as FF and rewind but no

it seems i have to move my finger along the playline to move around a track.

strangely when I connect a bluetooth headset - the headset buttons can use these FF and rewind functions but the app itself doesn't seem to

I'm sure I'm missing something as this seems to be a very basic music player function

cheers eske

@bigbob10 what do you mean dude? to stop music playback hit the pause button (soft key in bottom centre of the screen) and then hit the back key (physical back key) to leave the player

Why would you want to fast forward/rewind when you can seek to any part of the track you want?

The ability to seek to a position is the successor to rewind/fast forward. It's like DVDs vs. video cassettes.

cant help you with that but can anyone tell me how you actually stop the music player??

Just pause it and then back out.

hey @matttye

by seek do you mean put your finger on the timeline and scrub through to whatever time you want?

that'd be cool with a 5 min track but if you're listening to a podcast that's over an hour long it's not very exact

I'd love to be able to just move forward at double spped X4 X8 whatever... at a time - it seems like kinda basic function to leave out - why not do both?

or am I a complete dinosaur? ;)

yeah but how come it still shows in running apps?

surely there should be a STOP button that closes the player completely??

Yes i had the same problem. I love podcasts and lectures but some times i just want to skip 30 or 40 seconds. The podcast problem i solved by buying app called "doggcatcher" , it lets me choose how long i want to skip, you just have to go to the settings. I just wish it wasn't so expensive, still worth the cash. But on the music side the only one so far i have found is the "mortplayer audio book", not the "music player". they have two apps. I hope this info is helpful.I would hate to be one of those people that just post" Dude why do you want to do that the other way is better" They are the reason i stay away from forums. Love Z:)

yeah I found doggcatcher too - it rocks
after a lot of downloading and experimenting
I've settled upon using
Listen for podcasts
Doggcatcher for video RSS subscriptions
Ambling book player for audiobooks
doubletwist for wireless syncing of music and movies using the brilliant airsync
and Poweramp for music playback

But I may move all my podcasts to Doggcatcher too - it's a fantastic app (although you got to love the ease with which you can subscribe with Listen directly within google reader

Why would you want to fast forward/rewind when you can seek to any part of the track you want?

The ability to seek to a position is the successor to rewind/fast forward. It's like DVDs vs. video cassettes.

I often listen to long mixes, the most recent one being basically a 10 hour continuous mp3. Trying to pinpoint a specific tune at 7 hours and 31 minutes into the mix is a bit tricky at times. Although using the seek feature (or whatever it is called) a fast forward and rewind button has its uses.

one thing you could maybe use is the doubletwist player - it includes an iphone-like scrolling bar where the more you move your finger away from the bar, the more precisely you can scroll it (if that makes sense). It basically allows you a better and more precise scrolling, try it.

Alternatively, there are fast forward/rewind buttons in poweramp.

yeah agreed - how hard does poweramp rock - great player

didn't know that about doubletwist player - must have a gander - I have it installed for the whole wireless sync (so so cool) but I've never used the player

doggcatcher has just allow you to import your google listen feeds - life is good

Work great with Google assistant
Next songs or back 20sec last songs
Or just the name of the song
But really hahaha it should have a few and ff it really annoying I guess it's just to hard for them to give a update
Like everything you pay for what you have I guess it's cheaper with out the new and ff SAD
