Music player not updating songs list after ICS

Hi I have been using Xperia RAY for quite some time now..

When it was on Gingerbread.. If i connected it to my PC as mass storage..

I would delete songs, copy new songs to the "Music" folder..(like we do with pen drives)
And after i disconnected from PC..and started the default Music Player on my phone..the music player would automatically detect the changes in the music folder and songs...
and Automatically remove deleted song names from the list and add the names of newly copied songs...

Now I have updated to ICS... and this simple thing does not happen...

Now no matter what i do..the Music Player keeps showing me the song names of songs that were present when I first used the Music Player (after updating to ICS)

The names of newly copied songs don't get added so the music player does not show those songs..and it keeps showing me songs which I ahve deleted already...(If i click on them ,,gives me error "song not found")

And there is no option to "refresh" the list or look for new songs or update the song names...

Its really very irritating..
Any solutions?
 
I experience the same problem, I had clear the data from APP, but it's always appear on track list, it's some bug or something.

I don't have the choice to refresh the music list, and doesn't have option to play only from my custom folder.

If you unmount then mount the memory card does this problem go away?

Main Menu > Settings > Storage > Unmount SD Card > wait > Mount SD Card
 
Hi there,

I had the exact same problem on my Xperia Arc S following recent ICS update.

Tried everything suggested in this thread, to no avail.

Anyway, I found another solution - I installed the free 'Scan Media' app from the play store, which forced my phone to rescan the SD card. It took a few minutes for the music player to catch up, but now it is showing all the new music I added today.

Definitely worth a try! Not sure if this is a permanent fix, or whether I'll have to keep rescanning. Hopefully this is just a bug that will get sorted out in future updates. Meantime, this might work :)

The update should only be a problem if it did not apply correctly as I have the same version on my handset without a problem. With this being the case it may be worth running the update again and choosing the "Repair" option.
 
I have had a similar problem on my Xperia Pro after the ICS switch. New songs I copied onto the SD card were not detected by the stock music player no matter what I tried to do. Even some third-party music apps were not able to provide solution. One day I found out how to deal with the problem: uninstall the MUSIC PLAYER SMART EXTRAS. Never had the same problem since then!
 
Bravo Sony!! You can update with new firmware but the phone will not work without a full factory reset. Well done, as usual.
