Music player question.

Hey I'm new to Android and smartphones and I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I use my phone to listen to music in the car, is there a music app that would be good for that? Preferably something that would allow me to use my phone's keyboard (I have an LG Ally) to switch tracks, pause, etc...

The music app isn't cutting it for me. If it was then I wouldn't have asked this in the first place.

I'm looking for something with bigger "buttons" on the touch screen and one that works with my keyboard. And one that won't lock the screen. It's a real pain to have to draw my pattern while I'm driving and it makes me real uncomfortable.

I tried PowerAMP out and I liked it for the most part. I really don't want to have to pay for an app though. Are there any free suggestions?

So I had to drive upstate yesterday which is about an hour drive which gave me a lot of time to play with Museek in the car. It's taking me a little bit to get used to the touch screen, but I do like the lock screen widget. Thank you for the suggestion SupraEA. Now if only WinAMP would do the same.

Hmmm. I do wonder why people are so reluctant to pay a couple of quid (or dollars if you prefer, or even Euros ... ) for an app *if* it does what they want!

Anyway, I too would recommend Poweramp. Installed it for the very reasons you want a music app. (though I see you've found something anyway ...).

FYI -- you don't have to rely on the music app to prevent the screen from locking. You may have more options for music apps if you drop that requirement and consider alternative solutions for the screen lock (Tasker, Settings->Applications->Development->Stay Awake, other apps designed to prevent the screen lock, etc).

It's fairly common in the Android world. Google users seem to have a tendency to expect things to be free.

I don't expect things to be free, I'm just really short on bread right now.

And I didn't know about the development tool. I'll check that out.
