Help Music transfer from iTunes

Hello all. I have a Galaxy S5 (which explains why I'm posting here.) I have a MacBook air as my personal computer and I'm trying to get my music to transfer from my computer to my Galaxy. I've been reading online and it told me to download Android File Transfer. After that websites say I just plug my phone in, phone connects and I just drag and drop my music.

I downloaded the the file transfer program but when I plug my phone in, my computer says it is unable to connect to the phone. It recommends I unplug my phone or restart my phone. I tried both and it still will not connect to the computer. Does anyone have any thoughts on why my phone will not connect? Or does anyone have any other suggestions on how to transfer my music to my phone?

Thank you in advance for any advice!

DoubleTwist is good and it syncs with iTunes and your android over wifi. If you use it just remember to only turn on the
Airsync when using it, don't leave it or it will use your battery fast.

So I installed doubletwist on both my phone and MacBook. Tried to connect the phone with a USB cord to save $4.99. The program gave me directions on how to "mount" my phone. When I followed the directions, there was no mount options. Just Media device, something to do with the camera and I think media storage (which said it allowed transfer of media), but media storage was grayed out and would not allow me to select that option to transfer the music. Getting very frustrated with both programs I've tried.
