Must Have Apps

what are the best apps for someone who is COMPLETELY IGNORANT to Android? I just got my phone today (as a matter of fact the battery is still charging as I type this) and I want to start "personalizing" it. What apps should I start with? Thanks for any input!

It really depends on what you expect out of your phone. Do you use it for email, calendar, and contacts with some busy games, media, and browsing or do you use it the opposite with a focus on games, media, and browsing with some email calendar, and contacts?

well I get alot of email and will be using it for media purposes as well. will be downloading games to play in my squad car on slow nights (im a cop). I would like a better home screen too so I was reading up on launcherpro.

You might want to check out this thread to get some suggestions on really good apps.

I highly recommend LP though. I have it and use it over my native home screen and even Open Home, which I had to pay for($3.99). I like having LP's 3D app drawer and the multiple docks on the bottom of the screen.

Free version of launcher pro. Adds additional row of normal icons. Adds highly customizeable doc bar for up to 15 shortcuts. Youu can set each icon to open something else by swiping up instead of pressing--so it is really like having 30 shortcuts. Pro version adds widgets.

Astro file manager.

My favorite caledar app is a calendar widget called Calendar Pad.

Rockplayer plays many more types of movies than the stock app

BookmarkSB will alphabetize your bookmarks

Dolphin and xScope are browsers with tabs and other qnique features

Doubletwist along with the windows app is a good itunes replacement.
