Help Mute notification sounds with volume or power button troubles.

Hey guys, i cant seem to find an answer to this anywhere so here goes. Is there a way to set it so you can temporarily mute notifications with the volume or power buttons? Im mainly having this issue with go sms. Everytime i get a text i have to get into the phone and click the message to mute my ringtone. I never had this issue with the epic 4g.

Hi tr1ptheory - Welcome to Android Forums!

My suggestion would be to download something like Volume Control + from the market. It works on MOST phones and will allow you to change just the notification volume if you want. (I don't know what you currently have since it sounds like you upgraded from the epic).

Thanks BabyBlues . And i have the epic 4g touch for sprint. Does this phone not have that feature built in like its predecessor?

It appears it may be slightly different than it's predecessor. Try looking at pages 56 and 57.

I looked through the pages you mentioned, I didn't see anything about the problem I'm having. Unless I missed it like the big goof I am lol.

If you've read through all the notification pages then the option may not be there in this version.

how about this...

quick press power button to wake phone up
hold power button for about 2 seconds and it gives you the option to silence the phone

don't know if this is what you're looking for, but thought I'd give it a try

Well the suggestion you gave is just a quick way to silence the phone instead of going to the settings. What I'm asking is if this phone (epic 4g touch) has the ability to silence notifications temporarily when the phone goes off. Like lets say you get a text and the ringtone goes off, you simply click the power or volume button/s and it stops ringing. Though the LED light keeps blinking.

The epic 4g had this feature and it came in handy whenever I forgot to silence my phone in class. But now, I have to get into the phone and open the text for the ringtone to stop.
